LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – A new exclusive Michigan News Source poll conducted by the Trafalgar Group and released on Friday afternoon shows a tight race between Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and GOP candidate Tudor Dixon.
The survey conducted between August 22-25 included 1,080 likely voters in Michigan and shows Gov. Gretchen Whitmer with a much smaller lead over her Republican challenger Tudor Dixon than other recent polls.

The poll gives the incumbent Whitmer 49.4% and Dixon 45.3% support. It puts the separation of the two candidates at four points.
It is critical to note that Whitmer fails to crack the 50% mark with almost two-and-a-half percent of voters yet to decide how they will vote on November 8.
The news of this tight race comes on the heels of last weekend’s Democratic convention and on the eve of the GOP convention. Last Friday, Dixon named Shane Hernandez as her running mate. The party’s ticket will be solidified on Saturday.
The Trafalgar Group conducted an exclusive poll for Michigan News Source just days before the August 2 primary. It showed Dixon with an explosive lead over the four other candidates. Within hours, former President Donald Trump announced his endorsement for Dixon. The Trafalgar Group also predicted the exact electoral vote in 2016.
The race between Whitmer and Dixon is a first for Michigan, with two women competing for the state’s top job.
The contrast between the two candidates is vast. Whitmer is a staunch pro-abortion advocate who has vowed to “fight like hell” for abortion rights through all nine months of pregnancy and has vetoed funding that would have supported adoptive families. Dixon is unapologetically pro-life, a mom of four daughters, and has received the endorsement of Michigan Right to Life-PAC.

Whitmer is still under fire for shutting down businesses and schools in Michigan during the COVID-19 outbreak; Dixon, a former steel industry worker, said Michigan is still not “business friendly” and that Whitmer continues to ignore the business sector.
Michigan’s general election is November 8.
