LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – With the general election less than 50 days away, social media and televisions will be blowing up with political advertisements.

One of those ads will be released Tuesday from the Michigan Freedom Fund. The ad features video of Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel calling for “a drag queen for every school.” Michigan Freedom Fund says the ad uses unaltered video footage from Nessel’s speech in June at the Michigan Department of Civil Rights.

In addition, the ad targets Nessel’s public bouts of drinking. One incident involved Nessel at the October 2021 football game between Michigan State University and the University of Michigan where she admitted to having one-to-many Bloody Marys on an empty stomach in the morning. An ambulance had to be called.

The incident did not stop Nessel from doing shots with party-goers in Detroit in March during a St. Patrick’s Day parade. Nessel posted a picture on Twitter.

In June after Nessel’s “drag queens” comments came to light, she pushed back and claimed she said the comments in jest.

Nessel is running against GOP candidate Matt DePerno and hoping to keep her job for the next four years. The general election is November 8.
