FLINT, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – The embattled Flint City government can add “missed deadline” to its list of woes from the past year, as the city council violated Flint’s charter on Monday night and failed to approve a budget.

A special meeting to remedy the missed deadline is scheduled for Thursday, June 8 at 5:30 p.m.
Flint’s $66.6 million general fund budget includes the city’s operating millage rates, assessments for street lighting, and garbage collection, among other things.
City council members and Mayor Sheldon Neeley exchanged barbs, each blaming the other for not approving the budget, and failing to do enough research on proposed projects.
If the budget is not approved by the end of June, Flint runs the danger of a financial crisis which could shut down the city.
