EAST LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – It has been three years since Michigan State has started off 3-0 as they recorded their first shutout since 2022 in a 40-0 win over Prairie View A&M, a NCAA Football Championship Program. MSU 458 yards of total offense with three rushing touchdowns and one passing.
“It’s always good to win a game. I was really please with our approach this week in practice and the focus of the team. The mentality we came out and played with defense and gave our offense a chance to respond. We had some big time plays today,” said head coach Jonathan Smith.

The defense held PVA&M to just 140 yards of offense and just 17 yards rushing. Charles Brantley set a new school-record with a 100-yard touchdown pick-six in the second quarter to make it 27-0. PVA&M was threatening at the MSU 27-yard line when Brantley intercepted the ball in the end zone and returned it 100-yards.
Aidan Chiles led the offense with 173 yards passing and one touchdown while rushing for another. Nate Carter finished with 91 yards rushing and one touchdown. Aziah Johnson recorded the only receiving touchdown.
The win moved MSU to 9-0 vs. FCS teams and has outscored them, 372-81.
MSU heads to the East Coast next Saturday night game on the ACC Network against Boston College at 8:00 p.m.
