WASHINGTON, D.C. (Michigan News Source) – U.S. Sen. Elissa Slotkin (D-Michigan) is promoting a theory about the training of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents that has already been debunked.

Slotkin posted Feb. 2 on her X account that the training has been reduced for ICE agents.

“ICE used to have five months of training, but they’ve shortened it now to 47 days. The number 47 was picked because President Trump is the 47th president,” Slotkin claimed in the video.

 

 

The Washington Examiner went to the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Glynco, Georgia in August. It reported acting ICE Director Todd Lyons shared that training had recently been shortened to six days a week for eight weeks. That would be 48 days of training.

In August, The Intercept reported that ICE had eliminated a five-week course on learning Spanish.
