LANSING, Mich. (Great Lakes News) – The parent and student athletes group “Let Them Play” is suing the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) over testing student athletes for COVID-19 on a weekly basis.
“Let Them Play” is fighting the order to perform weekly COVID-19 tests on 13-19 year-olds athletes. The suit alleges MDHHS does not have the legal authority to require such tests.

The suit comes after “Let Them Play” attempted to engage the MDHHS in discussion about the practicalities of such tests.
The requirement took effect Friday, though many school sports are out this week due to spring break.
In the meantime, some of those athletes may receive the COVID-19 vaccine after people at least 16-years of age and older are eligible to receive the Pfizer vaccine starting Monday, April 5th.
The vaccine is free regardless if the patient has insurance. Sixteen and 17-year-olds must be accompanied by an adult.
