Some of the main points of the order revolve around outdoor gatherings, residential gatherings, and student athlete testing.

Outdoors gatherings with fewer than 100 people do not to wear masks. People who are fully vaccinated with no COVID-19 symptoms do not have to wear a mask when attending residential gatherings.

Fully vaccinated student athletes do not need to take routine COVID-19 tests.

The loosened restrictions appear to stem from the number of Michiganders who are already fully vaccinated. According to Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, the state has administered seven million vaccines in the last five months.

In a social media video released this week, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer appears to contradict the loosened restrictions.

“These are the new rules for everyone, vaccinated or not,” Whitmer said.
