“I have seen how government mismanaged the pandemic, the shutdowns, and business,” Rathbun said. “We need leadership in Lansing that promotes and grows our economy, not shutting it down. We need policies that make us healthy, not backwards mandates that help no one.”
According to a press release, Rathbun is an Owosso native who attended Corunna Public Schools and enlisted in the U.S. Army his senior year. Rathbun served two tours in Iraq and one in Afghanistan. He then spent many more years in military service stateside and retired after 20 years of service.
Rathbun, a husband and father of four, works for Corunna Public Schools.
Rep. Ben Frederick, a Republican, currently represents the 85th District, but cannot run again due to term limits.
Rathbun describes himself as a pro-life, pro-gun conservative who is committed to election integrity and reducing spending in the nearly $70 billion annual state budget.
“I would be honored to serve my community and my neighbors in this role,” Rathbun said.
