LANSING, Mich. (Great Lakes News) – Michigan’s soon-to-be new chief medical executive has labeled masks “safe and effective.”

Dr. Natasha Bagdasarian says she will make recommendations to Gov. Gretchen Whitmer based on data and evidence while she serves as the interim chief.
Last week, Whitmer’s office announced Dr. Joneigh Khaldun, the state’s current top doctor, will leave her post in state government on Thursday.
Dr. Bagdasarian had served as a senior public health physician within the Department of Health and Human Services.
