LANSING, Mich. (Great Lakes News) – Several local health departments throughout Michigan have stopped mandating masks in schools.
This week, the Allegan and Berrien County Health departments eliminated mask mandates in schools. The health department for Dickinson and Iron Counties did the same thing last week.

The move comes in response budget provisions from Lansing that threaten to cut off funding for counties with COVID-19 orders.
Governor Gretchen Whitmer has repeatedly said she wouldn’t enforce the rules, and stated the provisions are unconstitutional.
Ultimately, this issue may be settled in court.
