SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. (Great Lakes News) – The MacArthur Lock is set to close in mid-December so work can be done.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will close the MacArthur Lock in the Soo Locks on December 15 for critical maintenance. It will reopen April 30th, 2022.

The Poe Lock will stay open until 11:59 p.m. January 15th, 2022 or until commercial traffic ends.
Officials say the MacArthur Lock is 78-years-old and the maintenance period is critical to keeping it open for shipping.
