WASHINGTON (Great Lakes News) – The deputy postmaster general is asking for a temporary delay for the COVID-19 vaccine mandate for post staff nationwide.

The mandate requires United States Postal Service (USPS) workers to either be vaccinated or go through weekly testing.

Deputy Postmaster General Douglas Tulino cites current supply chain and staffing problems as a reason for the 120 day extension.

The mandate for the USPS is set to take effect on Monday, but OSHA officials have said the agency would not issue citations for violations until Feb. 9.
