DETROIT (Great Lakes News) – The Great Lakes Water Authority (GLWA) will charge 3.7-percent more for water rates and 2.4-percent more for sewer.

The GLWA approved the hikes Wednesday in a unanimous 6-0 vote.

Officials say half of the sewer rate hike is due to Highland Park, which is a Detroit suburb, only paying half of its bill from 2012 through last year.
