LANSING, Mich. (Great Lakes News) – Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s campaign may be scrambling to get on the ballot as she enters a court battle over the presence of so-called “union bugs” on petition sheets.
Her lawyers argue the governor has 35,000 signatures riding on the court’s decision.

Last month, the Board of State Canvassers denied the ballot initiative because the petitions included a union logo.
Two members of the board objected over the union bug font size being too small.
Union bugs must conform to typeface requirements that petition text appear in 8-point type.
Whitmer and other gubernatorial candidates must collect 15,000 valid signatures by April 19 to appear on the ballot.
