GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (Great Lakes News) – A Grand Rapids police officer shot and killed a man on Monday morning on the city’s southeast side.

Grand Rapids Police Department Chief Eric Winstrom held a press conference Monday and said the incident happened during a traffic stop near Griggs and Nelson around 8 a.m.

Officials said that traffic stop turned into a fight that ended with the officer opening fire and killing a man.

The officer’s body camera fell off during the struggle. GRPD will review the video.
