LANSING, Mich. (Great Lakes News) – Lawmakers in Lansing have proposed a nearly $20 billion budget for Michigan’s School Aid Fund.
The bill includes a $9,000 per-pupil allowance for Michigan schools along with a $514 million incentive for teacher retention and recruitment programs for the 2022-23 fiscal year.
Lawmakers approved The House School Aid budget proposal along party lines in the Republican-controlled House Appropriations Committee Wednesday.
The bill will likely appear on the House floor for consideration next week.
