DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – Law enforcement authorities raided the Warren home of a man tied to a forged signature gathering group at the center of Michigan’s Republican gubernatorial candidate pool.

The raid happened Thursday at the home of political consultant Shawn Wilmoth.
Forged and fake signatures gathered by multiple contracted companies were submitted to the Bureau of Elections in the spring.
The Michigan Bureau of Elections found more than 68,000 signatures across ten nominating petitions submitted by circulators.
In a staff report shared publicly last month, the Bureau of Elections lists 36 people it says submitted fraudulent petition sheets, often for multiple candidates.
One name that has risen to the top of the conversation around the forgeries is that of Wilmoth, who the bureau says directed some signature-gathering efforts in Michigan.
The bureau says Wilmoth pleaded guilty to two counts of election fraud in 2011.
