The University of Michigan will be looking for a new baseball coach as veteran coach Erik Bakich is expected to be introduced today as the new head coach at Clemson University.

Bakich coached the Wolverines for the past 10 seasons, leading his team to the NCAA Tournament five times.  That included a berth in the College World Series in 2019, where the Wolverines advanced to the CWS Championship Series.  They lost to Vanderbilt 2 games to 1 to fall one game short of winning the national championship.

A few names that have been mentioned to replace Bakich in Ann Arbor are Detroit Tigers pitching coach Chris Fetter (who’s Michigan’s former pitching coach), current Central Michigan University coach Jordan Bischel (who led the Chippewas to a Mid-American Conference Tournament title and a berth in this year’s NCAA Tournament), and Michigan volunteer assistant coach and former Major Leaguer Brandon Inge.
