HOUGHTON, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Michigan Tech University announced a new addition to their Great Lakes Research fleet.
Thanks to a donation from an MTU Alumnus, a new 47-foot catamaran fiberglass-hulled vessel is now part of the research program.

The ship will be renamed the Lupine, and officials say the ship will greatly enhance capabilities for students to research the Great Lakes. They say it will provide more working room. In addition, the capability of multi-day research trips will allow for more comprehensive data to be collected.
The Lupine will see its first research action within a month.
