LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – On the day Democrats are expected to start airing $2 million worth of ads attacking GOP gubernatorial candidate Tudor Dixon, she’ll host a roundtable with the state’s largest police union, the Police Officers Association of Michigan.
Dixon, who is endorsed by the Police Officers Association of Michigan, also plans to respond to what her campaign calls the false ad attack launched by a Democratic Governors Association front group.

The ads, which run Wednesday through primary election day on Tuesday, August 2, call Dixon “dangerous” for Michigan and accuse her of wanting to slash the annual budget for the State Police by up to $500 million annually. In addition, the ad says Dixon would leave less police on the street and Michigan less safe.
Dixon told Michigan News Source that Gov. Whitmer is the one who said she supported the “spirit” of the defund the police movement.
It is not known if other attack ads are scheduled against the other four GOP gubernatorial candidates. In a press release, Dixon’s campaign speculates that the attack ads are aimed at her because she’s the frontrunner and has the best chance of defeating Gov. Whitmer in November.
Dixon will meet with the Police Officers Association of Michigan on Wednesday morning at 10:00 in Redford Charter Township.
On Wednesday night, Dixon will face off with the other four Republican governor hopefuls Ryan Kelley, Ralph Rebandt, Kevin Rinke, and Garrett Soldano at a debate in Oakland County.
