LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – GOP gubernatorial pick Tudor Dixon and Democrat incumbent Gov. Gretchen Whitmer are already trying to distinguish their campaigns on social media.

One of the biggest issues that will likely influence how voters will cast their ballot is abortion. Dixon is endorsed by Michigan Right to Life and is staunchly pro-life, while Gov. Whitmer has vowed to “fight like hell” for legal access to abortion services.

This exchange occurred on Twitter Friday morning, which started when Gov. Whitmer boasted about her work ethic and first job. She cited “mom” as her best job.

The next three months are expected to bring about several “firsts” for Michigan politics. It’s the first time two women have run against each other for the state’s top spot in the general election. The race will also highlight each candidate’s background. Dixon resume includes jobs in the manufacturing and broadcasting industries. Whitmer’s experience is primarily political, with more than two decades in Michigan politics.

The general election is November 8.
