LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Gov. Gretchen Whitmer has filed an emergency motion to quash a subpoena.
The motion stems from a subpoena filed Monday by attorney David Kallman. He is representing the Jackson and Kent County Prosecutors.

Kallman subpoenaed Whitmer to appear as a witness in an August 17 hearing regarding the temporary restraining order that bars Michigan county prosecutors from prosecuting abortion providers under the state’s 1931 abortion ban.
In the motion filed by Whitmer, it states, “It is apparent that the defendants’ subpoena of the Governor is not necessary (or perhaps even meant) to aid this Court in resolving the questions before it, and would only serve to detract from the Governor’s performance of her official duties, needlessly complicate the proceedings before this court, and improperly raise the level of spectacle surrounding the case.”
