WASHINGTON (Michigan News Source) – Somehow, the Bureau of Labor Market Information and Strategic Initiatives was able to look into their crystal ball and predict what the 50 hottest jobs will be in Michigan for the next eight years.

They recently released their updated Hot 50 and Career Outlook publications. The “Michigan’s Hot 50” brochure lists the top high-demand, high-wage careers through 2030. The brochure includes title, projected annual openings, hourly wage range, job growth information and the education or training level needed.

The “Michigan’s Career Outlook” brochure features the highest demand jobs based on education level and features the top jobs in science, technology, engineering and math careers.

Data from both publications is used in Pathfinder and MiTalent.org’s Career Explorer. Scott Powell, director of DTMB’s Bureau of Labor Market Information and Strategic Initiatives (LMISI) says, “The data compiled in these lists are invaluable to students and jobseekers alike as they make decisions about their futures. It is our goal to provide our education and workforce partners with the information they need to help Michiganders find their path to high-demand, high-wage jobs.”

The top careers according to the highest hourly wage are Architectural & Engineering Managers, Computer & Information Systems Managers, Financial Managers, General & Operations Managers, Lawyers, Marketing Managers and Sales Managers.

The top careers according to job growth are Health Specialties Teachers – Postsecondary, Industrial Machinery Mechanics, Logisticians, Massage Therapists and Physicians Assistants.

Many of the careers require Bachelor’s Degrees and some require even more education. Many also required licensing and work experience. There were a few jobs listed that can be acquired through apprenticeships like electricians, plumbers, pipe fitters and steamfitters. Other jobs could be attained through an Associate’s Degree such as Dental Hygienists, Paralegals, Legal Assistants, and Physical Therapist Assistants.
