GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – The top Republican in the U.S. Congress has high hopes for a Michigan congressional candidate.

U.S. House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy has campaigned for Republican John Gibbs in Grand Rapids.

McCarthy called Gibbs “an extraordinary candidate” ahead of the November election against Democrat Hillary Scholten.

Gibbs beat incumbent Republican Rep. Pete Meijer  in the August 2 primary.
