EAST LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – A day after being a celebrity at the FireKeeper’s Casino 400, Michigan State head football coach Mel Tucker was right back at it in practice. “Let’s have intentional focus, man, let’s increase the intensity today. Attack the standard. Let’s go men,” as he addressed his team during practice.

Tucker also wished the State of Michigan good luck as they opened the 2022 season on their first day of practice. “I just wanted to wish the whole state of Michigan best of luck as fall camp starts. Good luck and go green,” says Tucker.

MSU also received a ranking of 14th in the USA Today Sports AFCA Coaches Preseason Poll. It is the highest ranking in the preseason poll since they were 12th in 2018 and is the first time to be ranked in the preseason since 2019. MSU finished eighth last year in the USA TODAY Sports AFCA Coaches Poll and ninth in The AP Poll.

They finished their fourth preseason practice on Monday and open their season on September 2 vs. Western Michigan at 7:00 p.m.
