DETROIT, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Ending the series with a two-run loss, Detroit has now lost seven games in a row and nine out of the last 10 games. Sunday brought another lead for Detroit only to see if fade in the late innings falling, 5-3.

Detroit scored the first two runs of the game in third inning as Akil Badoo was the first run on a wild pitch. Javier Baez then doubled in Riley Greene for the 2-0 lead. Chicago cut the lead to one in the bottom of the third and then added two more in the fifth inning for a 3-2 lead. The eighth inning brought two more runs for the three-run lead, 5-2.

Harold Castro was the third run for Detroit as he collected his fifth home run of the day with one out cutting the lead to two, 5-3. Willi Castro then struck out but Jeimer Candelario singled with the tying run Kody Clemens coming up. Clemens followed with a ground out ending the comeback bid as Detroit dropped their seventh game in a row.

Baez led the team with two hits and one RBI while Castro had the other RBI. Tyler Alexander took the loss going five innings with two strikeouts.

Detroit now heads to Cleveland for a four-game series starting with a double header on Monday.
