LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – GOP gubernatorial nominee Tudor Dixon has until 5 p.m. on Friday to notify the Michigan Republican Party of her choice for lieutenant governor.

Once her choice is made, both she and her lieutenant governor choice will go before the MIGOP convention in Lansing next weekend to solidify the ticket.

Names being floated around as Dixon’s running mate include former Congressman Mike Bishop, ex-House Speaker Jase Bolger, former NBA player Willie Burton, and former Pistons player Vinnie Johnson.

However, two other former gubernatorial candidates have said they may try to get their names on the ticket as well. Ryan Kelley, who came in fourth and has not conceded in the August 2 primary, has been outspoken about how “our fight is not over.” Earlier this week, he started the “Unborn Equity & Voting Integrity” group on Facebook. He has not rallied his followers to support Dixon.

Ralph Rebandt, who has been mainly silent since August 2, has said he may vie for the state’s second top spot.

Garrett Soldano, who came in third on August 2, has backtracked on social media in the last three weeks and been all over the political map. One day after the election, he asked his supporters to vote for Dixon in November, but since then has started a podcast and had to pull back his followers by telling them not to put his name as a write-in candidate.

Instead of consistently rallying his supporters to back Dixon, he instead encouraged his supporters to fund Ryan Kelley’s legal fund as he faces misdemeanor charges related to the events of January 6, 2021.

Dixon and her pick will face off with Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and Lt. Gov. Garlin Gilchrist on November 8.
