DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – A combined 10 pitchers were used by both teams in the final game of the series in Detroit as Houston held off the Tigers 2-1. Detroit used six pitchers as Joey Wentz received the loss going four innings. Cristian Javier lasted six innings and didn’t allow any runs and only two hits with eight strikeouts for Houston receiving the win.

Will Vest, Jason Foley, Joe Jimenez, Jose Cisnero, and Gregory Soto all worked an inning not giving up an runs and only one hit. Foley and Jimenez each had a strikeout.

Each team posted just five hits as Baez had two for Detroit. Baez recorded the lone RBI with a solo home run. Riley Greene, Kerry Carpenter, and Jeimer Candelario all had one hit.

After three scoreless innings, Houston made it 1-0 in the fourth inning as Kyle Tucker had a solo home run to right field. Alex Bregman then made it 2-0 in the fifth on a sacrifice fly. With one out in the seventh inning, Baez hit his 13th home run of the year for the only run of the game.

Detroit is off on Thursday before hosting a three-game series with the Chicago White Sox September 16-18.
