DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – GOP gubernatorial candidate Tudor Dixon is using the endorsement of former President Donald Trump to bolster her campaign and unseat Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer.

On Friday, Dixon will meet with supporters in Troy with Trump’s former senior advisor Kellyanne Conway at the American Polish Cultural Center. Later in the day, Dixon and Donald Trump Jr. will deliver remarks at Barclay Place Event Center in Muskegon.

Former President Donald Trump endorsed Dixon four days before the August 2 primary election. ‘Tudor Dixon must defeat Gretchen Whitmer in November,” Trump said in a statement last month.

This week, an EPIC-MRA poll showed Gov. Whitmer up 16 points over Dixon, but the Dixon campaign called the poll “loaded” and said “public pollsters are… getting it wrong in another election cycle.”

“The smart folks inside both campaigns know this,” Sara Broadwater, Dixon’s Communications Director told Michigan News Source. “[Whitmer] is not dumping $2.5 million a week in attack ads because she’s running away with it.”

Early voting starts September 29. The general election is November 8.
