YPSILANTI, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Pulling off one of the biggest wins in program history with a30-21 victory over Arizona State, Eastern Michigan University’s Samson Evans was rewarded for his hard play in the game. Evans was named the Doak Walker National Running Back of the Week as he rushed for 258 yards which is the top single-game total by any FBS player this season.

He averaged 7.2 yards per carry with one touchdown and finished with 286 all-purpose yards. He rushed for 107 yards, alone, in the fourth quarter which was more than his total against Eastern Kentucky (89 yards). He is currently sixth in the FBS with 122.0 yards per game and 11th nationally with 366 total rushing yards.

Evans was also the MAC West Division Offensive Player of the Week as teammates Kepmton Shine was the Defensive Player of the Week and Jesus Gomez was the Special Teams Player of the Week.
