EAST LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – The American Red Cross, in conjunction with the East Lansing Police Department and local faith leaders, will host a community blood drive during the National Faith & Blue Weekend. 

On Friday Oct. 7, residents are invited to donate blood between 10 am and 4 pm at Martin Luther Chapel, located at 444 Abbot Road in East Lansing.  Donors must sign up for a scheduled slot to be guaranteed a spot.

“We invite all community members to come out and engage with our local law enforcement officers and faith leaders during this special event,” said East Lansing Police Chief Kim Johnson. “We are so appreciative of the many local faith leaders here in our community who have collaborated with us to make this event possible.”

The faith hosts in Lansing include: The Peoples Church of East Lansing, Ascension Lutheran Church, Capital City Vineyard Church, Martin Luther Chapel, Element Church, the Greater Lansing Church of Christ, Congregation Shaarey Zedek, and St. Thomas Aquinas Parish.  

This is just one of the dozens of Faith & Blue events happening in Michigan the weekend of Oct. 7 – 10.  There are more than 25 events in Detroit alone during the course of the weekend with events ranging from prayer services to pancakes breakfasts with law enforcement officers, to peaceful bike rides to balloon releases accompanied by communal prayer. 

 In 2021, the Faith & Blue organization had more than 100,000 Faith & Blue Weekend Participants, more than 750 local law enforcement partners, and 51 state law enforcement partners according to a report
