DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – Tied after the second inning, Detroit showed they could play with the best through the late innings of the game. Down 6-2, the Tigers added a run to pull within three before falling, 6-3. Detroit produced six hits off of one of the best MLB staffs with three of them being extra base hits. Kody Clemens led the team with two hits, one RBI, and one home run as Eric Haase had a double and Akil Baddoo a triple.

Drew Hutchinson went 6.1 innings giving up four earned runs for the loss producing two strikeouts. Four other Detroit pitchers worked the game in Alex Lange, Andrew Chafin, Jose Cisnero, and Daniel Norris.

Houston went up 1-0 in the first inning but a Haase double in the second inning tied the game as Spencer Torkelson came in. It was a three-run inning for the Astros in the third as they took the lead again, 4-1. Detroit answered with a Riley Greene single that scored Baddoo to pull within two, 4-2. Houston then added two more runs in the seventh making it 6-2. Clemens then hit his fourth home run of the year in the bottom of the seventh for the third Detroit run of the game.

Detroit will host Houston in the final game of the series on Wednesday at 1:10 p.m.
