DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – All good things have to come to an end and the end-of-season winning streak of six games by the Detroit Tigers is done. The Minnesota Twins, who have won only 77 games, shutout the Tigers, 7-0 only allowing six hits.

Tyler Alexander, in his 26th game of the year, went five innings giving up three earned runs but struck out six. Four other pitchers saw action giving up four runs and recording four strikeouts. Kody Clemens finished the ninth inning in only his eight career inning of pitching allowing no runs and two hits.

Harold Castro collected two of the six hits as Akil Baddoo, Riley Greene, Victor Reyes, and Tucker Barnhart all had one hit.

After two scoreless innings, Minnesota added a run in the third and two in the fourth for a 3-0 lead. They then made it 6-0 with three runs in the seventh and added one in the eighth to complete their seven runs.

Detroit left eight runners on base going 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position. Baddoo came the closest to scoring in the first inning left on third base. In the sixth inning, Greene advanced to third base with two outs but a strikeout ended the inning.

Detroit will play the second game vs. Minnesota on Saturday night at 6:10 p.m.
