Genesee County Woman Faces Elder Abuse Charges, Sheriff Says Patient Covered in Feces

FLINT, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Genesee County Sheriff Chris Swanson said a 32-year-old woman faces elder abuse charges after he says the patient under her care was taken to a hospital covered in fecal matter.

The 83-year-old patient was taken to Hurley Medical Center on Aug. 12. Swanson said while at the hospital, employees saw the wounds and the lack of care the 83-year-old woman had suffered.

The suspect, 32-year-old Stephanie Windus, was being paid $1,000 a month to take care of the victim.

In addition, Swanson said the victim had not been moved from her bed for six months; she had diabetes and Windus is accused of giving her unknown amounts of insulin without checking her sugar.
