LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – With ten days to go before the first gubernatorial debate and 36 days before the general election, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer is asking Michiganders to let her know what lower insulin costs would mean to them.

Whitmer stated she signed an executive directive on Monday to determine how the State of Michigan can lower the cost of insulin, including developing insulin manufacturing facilities. She said her executive directive “builds on the recent federal Inflation Reduction Act, which includes a $35 a month cap on insulin for Medicare recipients.”
On July 24, 2020, President Trump signed an executive order which to make insulin and EpiPens more affordable. On the day President Biden took office, he issued a freeze on Trump’s executive order.
After several months, the Biden administration rescinded the rule and prevented it from going into effect.
