LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Gov. Gretchen Whitmer has been chanting for months that she will “fight like hell” for the legal right to abortion through all nine months of pregnancy.

Now she’s set her sights on other states she calls “anti-choice” and vows to recruit their talent if she wins reelection next month and Proposal 3 passes. Proposal 3 would enshrine abortion in Michigan’s constitution through all nine months of pregnancy.

“I want to walk into Indiana and Ohio and eat their lunch,” Whitmer said on Friday.

It appears the abortion business alone is a top priority for Whitmer. Last October, residents slammed the governor after Michigan mainstay Ford announced it would open electric vehicle and battery plants in Tennessee and Kentucky. The company said Michigan did not meet the criteria for the company’s new campuses.

At the time, Whitmer said Ford didn’t give the state a “real opportunity” to compete for the EV facilities.

Tudor Dixon, the GOP gubernatorial challenger looking to unseat Whitmer next month, has repeatedly said Michigan continues to be “hostile” towards businesses.

Dixon told Michigan News Source on Tuesday afternoon, “Gretchen is proving once again that she has no economic development strategy to attract companies and job creators. She’s lost over 80,000 jobs, our legacy industry is leaving the state, and Michigan lags other states in recovering from COVID-19 as a direct result of her extreme lockdowns. Instead of providing an actual partner in government and delivering the infrastructure and resources businesses need, Gretchen is just another economic ambulance chaser.”

Dixon has been stopping by various businesses throughout the state who were lambasted by Whitmer’s pandemic lockdowns. One of those business owners is Marlena Pavlos-Hackney who spent four days in jail after she refused to shut down her pizzeria during Whitmer’s COVID-19 shutdown of businesses.

As far as the abortion issue goes, Whitmer and Dixon could not be more different. Whitmer is an outspoken abortion advocate who appears to support abortion up until the moment of birth. Dixon has been endorsed by Michigan Right-to-Life PAC and has mourned the death of a stillborn daughter.

The general election is November 8.
