KALAMAZOO, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Kalamazoo Public Safety is warning the Western Michigan University community about a rise in property thefts on campus.
The majority are crimes of opportunity which officials say can be reduced by people taking a few easy but important steps:

*Be aware of your surroundings.
*Always keep windows and doors locked in your home.
*Shut your blinds, so criminals can’t see what you have inside.
*Lock your valuables.
*Avoid leaving valuables in your car or in plain sight.
*Put a wooden rod or metal bar in your slider door.
