GLEN ARBOR, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore has temporarily closed its popular Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive after a storm system barreled through the region this week.
High winds rolled through on Tuesday and caused downed trees, power outages, and shoreline flooding throughout the National Lakeshore.
Park officials posted about the scenic drive’s closure on social media on Wednesday. They said maintenance crews are working to clear the road.
The maintenance team aims to have the drive cleared by the weekend. The 7-mile loop is considered one of the most spectacular scenic drives in the nation, and is a popular destination for fall color touring.
