LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Both Republicans and Democrats are pulling out the big guns to win up and down the ticket on election day.

Former Democrat Tulsi Gabbard, who left the party last week, endorsed GOP gubernatorial candidate Tudor Dixon on Thursday. She will be in Michigan on October 29  and 30 to campaign for Dixon at a series of events.

Below is Gabbard announcing her departure from the Democrat Party on her podcast last week.

Gabbard’s endorsement of Dixon came on the same day that the Detroit News announced its support of the GOP gubernatorial hopeful, and within a few hours of post-debate polls showing Dixon in a dead heat with Gov. Gretchen Whitmer.

A Mitchell Research & Communications survey commissioned by MIRS News shows Dixon within two percentage points of Gov. Gretchen Whitmer.

The Oct. 19 survey of 541 respondents found Whitmer up 49% to Dixon’s 47%, which is within the poll’s margin of error of +/- 4.21%. The final 3% are undecided.

This may be why Democrats appear to be scrambling to shore up their reelection victories by scheduling appearances with former President Barack Obama in several states, including Michigan. He is scheduled to be in Michigan on October 29, the same day Gabbard with campaign with Dixon.

Although Whitmer has touted President Joe Biden as her “good friend,” she did not appear interested in having him campaign with her as she spoke to reporters after the October 13 gubernatorial debate.

The second and final gubernatorial debate is Tuesday, October 25. Election day is November 8.
