LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – With 33 days to go before the general election, Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and GOP challenger Tudor Dixon are traveling the state and reaching out to Michiganders.
The differences between their two campaigns and their positions on the issues are stark, and the ideology gap appears to be widening even more as the election approaches.

On Wednesday, Gov. Whitmer traveled to West Michigan to meet with supporters over her issue du jour, “reproductive freedom.” Whitmer has repeatedly vowed to “fight like hell” for the legal right for abortion up through the moment of birth.
Today I was in Wyoming, Michigan hearing stories from Michiganders who know the importance of protecting reproductive freedom because they lived it. In some cases, they wouldn’t be here without access to abortion or reproductive health care. pic.twitter.com/Ikq9A2XaOm

Dixon, who has mourned the loss of a stillborn daughter and received the endorsement from Michigan Right to Life-PAC, has said that although abortion is a hot topic, it’s not one of the top issues driving people to the polls. She has cited education and the economy as more immediate threats to voters’ livelihoods.
In recent weeks, Dixon has focused on traveling to businesses in Michigan who were harmed by Whitmer’s COVID-19 lockdowns for two years.
We had an overflowing amount of support today at Marlena’s in Holland! We will never shut down businesses and tell them they are non-essential. Every job and every business is essential. That’s why we will make sure Michigan is #OpenForBusiness pic.twitter.com/aZ5V0sqF6y

The general election is November 8.
