GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Winning the GLIAC championship and going a perfect 11-0 on the year, #1 Grand Valley State University earned the first-round bye in the upcoming NCAA Division II playoffs. They dominated #18 Davenport University, 49-7, on Saturday to claim their 18th GLIAC football championship and 10th undefeated regular season.

As the #1 seed, they will play the winner of the Ouachita Baptist vs. NW Missouri State game on November 26 at Lubbers Stadium. In the four-team region, Ferris State is the #2 seed, Pittsburg State is #3 and Ouachita Baptist is #4. FSU will host Davenport and Pittsburg will face Indianapolis.

 This will be the 21st appearance for GVSU in the playoffs as they have a 36-16 record winning four national championships playing in the title game six times.

In the win over #18 Davenport, GVSU had 417 total yards with 263 yards rushing. Cade Peterson threw for 154 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for one. Jaylon Tillman and Jack Provencher both had receiving touchdowns. Abe Swanson led the defense with eight tackles as Johnanthony Lowery had a sack.

By winning the GLIAC Championship, every GVSU freshman class from 1977 has now won at least one conference championship in their career.
