LESLIE, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – A department store in Ingham County is closing after more than a century in business.
Mitchell’s Department Store in Leslie will soon close after being in business for the past 136 years. Jim Mitchell and wife, Nancy, will retire after running the store for the past 41 years.

Jim Mitchell’s great-grandfather started the iconic store that has been in the same location since 1903. The store sells everything from work uniforms to business casual clothes. The two have not set their last day in business and say they will stay open until everything is sold.
Jim Mitchell has served as chairman of Leslie’s Downtown Development Association and president of the town’s Chamber of Commerce.
