LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – After a two-year hiatus, “Pure Michigan” will once again highlight all the state has to offer during the winter months.

The advertising budget for “Pure Michigan” sits at close to $2.4 million plus another $446,000 in industry partner contributions. Last year, winter tourism season generated $2.9 billion in traveler spending.

This year’s winter campaign includes national television advertisements which run during Hallmark movies along with other markets in nearby cities. Those include Chicago, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, Dayton, Fort Wayne, Green Bay, Indianapolis, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, South Bend and Toledo.

Winter activities that Michiganders enjoy include downhill and cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, and sledding. According to the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, Michigan is home to more than 6,500 miles of snowmobile trails, 3,000 miles of cross-country skiing and snowshoeing trails.

In addition, Michigan boasts second in the nation for ski areas.
