ANN ARBOR, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Michigan held off surging Lipscomb University, 83-75, to move to 7-3 on the year. Kobe Bufkin had a career-high 22 points and Dug McDaniel scored seven points in the final four minutes of the game to key the victory.

With 4:27 left in the game, Lipscomb went up by four, 73-69, to continue their lead over the last three minutes. They took the lead, 65-62, with 7:05 to go in the game and held it until the final four minutes. That’s when Michigan went on a 14-2 run to end the game for the 83-75 win. In that run, McDaniel scored all seven of his points. Bufkin nailed a three-pointer to cut the lead to one to start the run, 73-72, and the McDaniel hit a jumper in the paint for the 74-73 lead. On the next possession, he had another shot to make it 76-73, and then went three-of-four at the line helping Michigan hold off Lipscomb.

After Bufkin’s 22 points, Jett Howard added 19 points as Hunter Dickinson had 15 points and Terrance Williams II 11 points. McDaniel also led the team in rebounds with eight. Michigan shot 50 percent in the game and was 36 percent in three-pointers but only made 60 percent from the line. Lipscomb finished shooting 41 percent and made 30 percent from the arc.

Michigan was up 49-41 at the half but was down four early before making the run before halftime. They had as large as a 13-point lead in the first half, 34-21, that came on the heels of a 18-4 run when they were trailing, 17-16.

They will play next on Dec. 21 in Charlotte, N.C., against North Carolina at 7:00 p.m. on ESPN.
