LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – The 2023 Roadmap to Safety report gives Michigan some poor marks and ranks the state in the danger zone for highway safety.

Advocates for Highway and Auto Safety released its road safety report and cited Michigan for not having strict safety laws for things like motorcycle helmets for all riders, child safety and seat belt usage and teen driving.

Last year, motor vehicle crashes claimed 42,915 lives. This was a 10.5 percent increase over the previous year.  Car crashes continue to be the leading cause of death for kids and teens.
