LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson asked Attorney General Dana Nessel last month for a formal opinion on whether a new state law allowing overseas military members to vote electronically can be expanded.
Specifically, Benson is asking if the law extends to military members’ families, other overseas voters, and some individuals with disabilities.

The law, passed in the fall, specifically excluded military family members from being allowed to vote electronically when the Republican majority negotiated the bill with Gov. Gretchen Whitmer.
Meanwhile, Benson continues to post on social media about “defending democracy” and making “every vote count.”
