PORTAGE, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Portage homeowners could soon receive a break when it comes to flood insurance.
A change in the city’s flood rating could make homeowners inside city limits eligible for a 15% discount on flood insurance premiums.
Their flood rating improved to a Class 7 rating from the previous Class 8 rating.
Officials say the area’s commitment to enhancing public safety, protecting property, and protecting the natural functions of floodplains are the reason for the improved rating.
