DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – Seven different Red Wings scored as Detroit held off Winnipeg, 7-5, who is in second place of the Central Division of the Western Conference. Detroit took a 3-0 lead in the first period and didn’t look back in the two-goal win.

Jake Walman collected his fourth goal of the year just over one minute into the game for the 1-0 lead. Six minutes later Jonatan Berggren netted a goal for the 2-0 advantage. Oskar Sundqvist made it 3-0 at the 15:27 mark before Winnigpeg scored at 17:17 cutting the lead to two, 3-1.

Dominik Kubalik, assisted by Sundqvist at the 2:57 mark of the second period, gave Detroit a three-goal lead, 4-1. Winnipeg came within one score with two straight goals at 9:46 and 12:08, 4-3. Dylan Larkin the scored on a power play at 17;38 as Moritz Seider and Lucas Raymond had an assist making it 5-3 at the end of the second period.

Just 33 seconds into the third period, Winnipeg came back to within one, 5-4, but a minute and half later Robby Fabbri put the lead back at two, 6-4. Winnipeg didn’t go away battling to the end netting a goal at 14:55 to pull within one, 6-5. Raymond then earned an empty net goal at 18:40 for a 7-5 final.

With the win, Detroit moves to 17-15-7 with 41 points for fifth place in the Atlantic Division. They will host Toronto on Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
