LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – On Thursday, Russia released U.S. Navy veteran and Michigan native Taylor Dudley after holding him in prison since last April.
Russian officials detained the 35-year-old Dudley last spring after he reportedly crossed into Russia from Poland after attending a music festival.
The news of Dudley’s release comes as another former U.S. military member and Michigan native, Paul Whelan, remains in a Russian prison. The Biden administration claims it is still working to secure his release.
Despite Whelan’s four years in Russia, in December the White House traded WNBA player Brittney Griner for Viktor Bout, an arms dealer serving 25 years in a U.S. prison.
Griner had been arrested last February after trying to smuggle drugs into Russia.
