LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – DTE Energy and Consumers Energy are continuing to help people who are struggling to pay their energy bills. The utility companies combined to donate $22 million to 12 groups that help customers.
The programs have become more important as natural gas prices soared, and more than three-quarters of Michigan residents live in residences heated with natural gas.

Anyone who needs help paying for their energy bills can call 211, a free resource that connects Michiganders with nonprofits to find assistance with basic needs. This includes energy bills, food, and shelter.
